Protecting your online data from hacks could be as simple as better password protection - as a marketer, you definitely have a lot of passwords to maintain.
This week, we read an article from our client Tag Computer Services on the discovery of a file containing 1.4 billion usernames and passwords posted in plain text on the dark web. The usernames and passwords were from popular sites including Runescape, Minecraft, RedBox, Badoo, Zoosh, Last.FM, YouPorn, Netflix, MySpace, LinkedIn, Pastebin, Bitcoin and many others. As a business owner, you might want to consider changing your password if you have a LinkedIN profile. You can read the entire article here.
How many of you use the same password for everything?
If that's the case, and you have a LinkedIn account, you might want to change your passwords. This is how those set to gain access to your accounts can do it. They find one password, and BOOM! Now they have access to everything....
Of course we have a solution.
As a marketing agency, we have access to what we're sure amounts to over 1000 passwords between our own accounts and those of our clients. That information needs to be protected for our own security as well as the protection of our clients' accounts.
We use Zoho Vault. It's an Online password manager for teams (or individuals).
Say goodbye to storing your important passwords on spreadsheets or post-it notes. With Zoho Vault, you stay organized while your passwords remain secure. Ask your IT provider - they will tell you protecting your passwords is imperative.
With it, you can securely store, share, and manage your passwords from anywhere with Zoho Vault. It encrypts passwords, allows for access control, monitoring of who logged in when, you can even add access restrictions such as 'only from the office IP'. A powerful system that allows sharing in-house and with your clients. Some of these features are only available with the higher level plans, but the pricing is extremely reasonable.
Zoho Vault leverages the host-proof-hosting technique - a secure, proven mechanism, which has found wide acceptance after undergoing extensive testing by security experts. Host-proof-hosting revolves around the basic fact of "host sensitive data in encrypted form, so that clients can only access and manipulate it by providing a pass-phrase which is never transmitted to the server. The server is limited to persisting and retrieving whatever encrypted data the browser sends it, and never actually accesses the sensitive data in its plain form. All encryption and decryption takes place inside the browser itself."
The secrets that you store on Zoho Vault literally remain secrets. The data remains completely private and only you can view the data. All the data are encrypted inside the browser itself and Zoho (which hosts the Zoho Vault service) stores only the encrypted data. The 'Passphrase' that you enter to access Zoho Vault, is used as the key to encrypt and decrypt the data at the browser. The passphrase is not stored anywhere in Zoho Vault and hence even Zoho cannot access your data.
