When communications is so much a part of your day to day...
- Is the phone working?
- Where are all the emails?
- What do you mean there are no meetings in the calendar?
This was me through the holidays. Really, you would think a time of quiet would be welcome. Nope - not for me!
I am so glad the rest of the world is back to work for the New Year. When communication is so much a part of your day to day, solitude with no phone calls, hundreds of emails, and no appointments is a little overwhelming. As a small business owner, you would think this would be a welcome break. But me - I feel disconnected.
Don't get me wrong - I worked through the holidays. I sent emails, I made phone calls -- but most went unanswered. So, I caught up on my work load, planned the year, set my goals. I did all the things an entrepreneur is supposed to do with down time over the holidays. And, today I start with a fresh outlook, new energy and the empowerment to make 2016 the best year ever for me and my business! Yet, I still feel like I have missed something.
What are my clients doing? my friends? suppliers? all those connections who seem to disappear completely for two weeks at Christmas? Social media was filled with awesome family photos, celebrations and inspirational and motivational quotes for the new year -- but -- there really was little in the way of actual communication!
Thankfully, the business world resumes today! Welcome to 2016!
Oh... if I call you today and I talk too much - just tell me to Shut Up! and Listen! I'm sure I'm not the only one who has a lot to say after the holidays.
