The Port Colborne Wainfleet Chamber of Commerce presented a learning forum entitled "Making Your Website Into A Salesperson, Not Just a Brochure". We were pleased to be one of the panelists.
The event was hosted at Whisky Run Golf Course in Port Colborne with great hospitality, food and bevvies. The learning forums are part of a joint initiative between the Port Colborne/Wainfleet, Welland/Pelham and Niagara Falls chambers. They are held monthly and rotate locations and hosting chambers.
PRowl Communications (then YDV Group) was pleased to be asked to be one of the panelists along with Keith Bellamy of Epoch Avenue Web Solutions and Sam Campbell of Ella Bella Bum. Keith and I offered expertise in web design and development while Sam offered a unique perspective in web design from a small business point of view.
The audience enjoyed an interactive approach to learning by asking questions and participating in the sessions. The panelists took a look at a few attendees' websites and offered advice for improvement and the reasons why.
Key Take Aways from the event:
- Make sure your website is mobile-friendly and responsive - Keith Bellamy
- Ensure you have a clear 'call to action' and method of contacting you - Debi Katsmar
- Make the website user-friendly, clean and uncluttered - Sam Campbell
For those in attendance here are a few of the links we discussed during the learning forum:

vCita - Web engagement and on-line scheduling system
Everyone learned something new including myself. I didn't know about tawk.to - thanks Keith. I have used similar, but they were all paid services and difficult to work with. Of course, I added tawk.to to my website along with my on-line scheduling system.
